Who needs rehabilitation?

Potential rehabilitation residents are those who because of an illness or injury, have difficulties, which may include:

• Balance and coordination deficits
• Difficulty swallowing
• Difficulty moving while in bed or transferring in/out of bed
• Difficulty performing ADL's (Activites of Daily Living)
• Memory or judgement difficulties
• Weakness or limited motion in arms, legs or abdomen

What Types of Therapy does McKinley Health Care offer?

McKinley Health Care Center offers all our Residents many options when it comes to therapy services.  Three of the most common follow:

• Physical Therapy which focuses on a Residents lower body strenghthening
• Occupational Therapy which focuses on a Residents upper bodies and ADL's
• Speech Therapy which focuses on speaking and swallowing difficulties

Presidential Rehabilitation Suites

The presidential rehabilitation suites are private studio apartments that feature private bathrooms, a kitchenette, walk-in closet and lift/reclining chairs.  Our suites are the step in between the hospital and home.  Residents participating in our therapy program gain strength as well as confidence and often achieve a level of functioning equal or greater to what they had prior to their hospitalization.

Potential Presidential Rehabilitation Residents are evaluated by the Director of Nursing and the Admissions Director prior to admission and must meet  the following criteria:

• Skilled under Medicare (or HMO) guidelines
• The stay must be short term in length with a realistic goal of returning home
• All Residents must be able to understand and follow directions of staff
• All Residents must be compliant with physicians orders and requests
